The High Commissioner

Kazi Imtiaz Hossain

His Excellency Kazi Imtiaz Hossain was born on 25 July 1962. He holds a Post-Graduate degree in Accounting from Dhaka University (1987);Diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy, International Institutes of Public Administration (IIAP), Paris, France (1992).

Mr. Hossain joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1989; At the Headquarters, he has served as Assistant Secretary (Americas & Pacific) and South Asia (1989-94); Director (South Asia) from 1998-2000; and Director General (SAARC & BIMSTEC) Wing from 2005-2007. In Bangladesh Missions Abroad, he has served as Vice Consul/Consul (1994-98) and Consul General (2005-2007) at the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York; First Secretary/CounseIlor in Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata, India (1998-2000); Counsellor at the Permanent Mission, Geneva (2002- 2005); and Minister, Bangladesh Embassy, Beijing, China (2005). Prior to his appointment as Bangladesh High Commissioner to Australia, he served as Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia and Permanent Representative to the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok from 2010-2014. He is married and has one daughter.
